Young Australians who secure employment and remain off welfare payments for a minimum of 12 months may be eligible for up to $6,500 in incentive payments through the Australian Government’s Job Commitment Bonus.

The Job Commitment Bonus will provide a payment of $2,500 to eligible young Australians aged 18 to 30 who have been on Newstart Allowance or Youth Allowance (as a job seeker) for 12 months or more, if they secure a job and remain off welfare for a continuous period of 12 months.

Additionally, another payment of $4,000 will be made to eligible young people if they remain in a job and off welfare for a continuous 24 month period.

The Job Commitment Bonus is designed to provide long-term unemployed young Australians with a real incentive to secure paid employment.

The Job Commitment Bonus is administered by the Department of Human Services. Further information about the scheme, including eligibility requirements and payment information, is available here.
